Thursday 8-8-19 New Rockford Campout

The day started with Donna, Cathy and John H making breakfast for the group. Sausage, eggs and hashbrowns. Helen brought grits and hash, Colleen Scones, Myron fruit, Mark eggs, Doris brought Zucchini bread

They opened up the buildings so we could see the old tractors

And the huge old steam engines used for plowing and thrashing

At 1:00 PM we had an appointment to see the Eddy County Museum. We mistakenly thought it was at west end of fairgrounds

We used Google Maps to find the right location and drove north into town to find it

The museum consisted of an old Stavanger Lutheran Church building, a rural school house and a railroad depot. All buildings had an assortment of items on display. An interesting taxidermy display included a two headed calf

Our museum guide was the mayor of New Rockford, Calvin Packard.

We drove around New Rockford admiring the parks and looking at the two other RV parks, one in a city park and the other on the NW corner of town. Neither would have worked very well for the campout.

We stopped at the bakery to order rolls for Friday morning

Joy got in a lot of ball playing, getting several members to play with her

We got back to fairgrounds in time for Happy Hour beside Myron’s motorhome

Donna and Cathy put out dinner. Pork loin, corn on the cob, beans and brownie dessert from Gloria, brocolli salad from Colleen, potato salad from Helen, bread from Joyce, coleslaw from Doris, water melon from Myron and ice cream novelties from Mark.
